About Sensational Sicily Trade Mission

'Sensational Sicily Trade Mission' to Brisbane has two objectives. The trade and industry objective will be achieved by the organization of one to one business meetings where Sicilian and Australian companies from a variety of sectors (tourism, arts, crafts, professional development and food) will discuss business collaborations as well as three workshops – tourism, olive oil and typical Sicilian products; this occasion will allow the Australian community to familiarise themselves with innovative and niche-market products as well as allow Sicilian companies to enter new markets.

The second objective of the event involves the cultural aspect: a cultural workshop will be organized on Saturday 4th August at the Italo-Australian Centre which will give the Italian community in Australia the opportunity to meet with the Sicilian delegation which will consist of 20 government representatives. The aim of the workshop is to stimulate the exchange of ideas and experiences that will help the establishment of collaborative initiatives between Sicilian communities overseas and the Sicilian region. All Presidents of Com.It.Es. Australia, members of CGIE, Presidents of the Sicilian associations in Australia as well as the Sicilian and Italian communities are invited to attend.

Sicily Handmade jewellery

Still on the theme of culture, to celebrate the uniqueness of this event, well-known jewellery designer from Palermo, Marilu Fernandez, has especially created a jewel called 'Sensational Sicily', an original piece, symbol of Sicilian artistic expression which exhibits human capacity to mould natural elements such as coral, gold and silver, utilizing the craftsmanship for which Sicily is famous.
